Tabimi
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
In one line: Tabimi has no account. Your map, your location history and your routes stay on your device and are never uploaded. Two things do leave it: the stickers you keep with the camera, which are backed up to our sticker cloud (section 5), and — for a few seconds after you take a photo — a copy of that photo, sent to our servers to check the cut-out and then discarded (section 4). Beyond that, the app sends only anonymous, coordinate-free usage statistics (section 8) and feedback you choose to write (section 9).
1The short version
- No account. No login. No sign-up.
- Your map, location history, revealed areas and routes stay on your device and are never uploaded.
- Stickers you keep are backed up to our sticker cloud — the cut-out image, the name you give it, when it was taken and, if it was taken outside a privacy zone, where (section 5).
- Right after you take a photo, a copy may be sent to our servers to check and repair the cut-out. It is not stored, and you can turn this off in Settings (section 4).
- The original photo is never kept — not on your device, not in our cloud.
- Anonymous, coordinate-free usage statistics, which you can turn off in Settings (section 8). No advertising, no third-party trackers, no analytics SDKs, no cookies.
- We never sell or rent your data, and we never use it for advertising.
- Tabimi is free.
2Our servers and service providers
We operate four kinds of servers for Tabimi: a download-only content server that delivers the same share-card designs to every user; the sticker cloud that stores the stickers you keep (section 5); the cloud-check servers that look at a fresh photo (section 4); and the endpoints that receive anonymous statistics and feedback (sections 8 and 9).
They run on Cloudflare (Workers, R2 storage and D1 databases), which acts as our infrastructure provider and processes data only on our behalf, and on servers we operate ourselves. Cloud-check traffic reaches our own processing servers either through Cloudflare or through a relay server we operate in mainland China. These servers may be located in mainland China and in other countries, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in.
As with any internet connection, connection information such as your IP address is processed to deliver each request. We do not use it to identify you, and we build no user profiles. If our servers cannot be reached, the map, revealing and Lumi keep working, and the camera falls back to its on-device cut-out.
3Location
Tabimi uses your device's location to reveal the map as you move — this is the core feature of the app. Your location is saved to a local database on your iPhone; your location history, routes and revealed areas are never transmitted to us or anyone else. You control location access in iOS Settings and can turn it off at any time.
With your permission, Tabimi can keep filling in your map in the background, so your travels are captured without opening the app. This background location, too, stays on your device.
The one exception is a single point you choose to keep: when you keep a sticker, the place it was taken can be stored with it in the sticker cloud (section 5). That point is never sent if it lies inside a privacy zone, if Ghost was on, or if no location was available.
4Camera and photos
Tabimi uses the rear camera only while the camera screen is open, to turn something you see into a sticker. The cut-out is made on your device. The original photo is never stored — neither on your device nor in our cloud; only the cut-out sticker is kept.
Cloud check. Right after you press the shutter, the app may send a copy of the photo — resized to at most 3,024 pixels on its longest side, as a JPEG with its metadata (including location) removed — together with the on-device cut-out mask to our cloud-check servers. They judge the cut-out and, when they can, return a repaired version that you may choose instead. The copy is held only for as long as it takes to answer and is then discarded: it is not stored, not logged, and not used for any other purpose. Cloud check is on by default; you can turn it off, or keep it to Wi-Fi, in Settings. Without it, the cut-out stays entirely on your device.
Saving to Photos. If you tap save, Tabimi asks for add-only access to your photo library and adds that one sticker. It cannot read your library.
5Stickers and the sticker cloud
When you keep a sticker, the app backs it up to our sticker cloud (shown in Settings as “Cloud collection”). It uploads:
- the sticker image (the cut-out with its white edge, up to 2,048 pixels) and a smaller thumbnail;
- the name you gave it, if any;
- when it was taken and its orientation;
- where it was taken — latitude, longitude and accuracy — only if a location was available, it lies outside every privacy zone, and Ghost was off.
The upload is tied to a random key that the app creates on your device and keeps in its Keychain; our servers store only a one-way hash of it. It is not your name, email, Apple ID, or a hardware or advertising identifier. The key is not synced through iCloud Keychain; it moves to a new device only inside an encrypted backup of your device.
We use these copies only to keep your stickers for you: once the full-size sticker is safely uploaded, your phone keeps a smaller copy and shows the full-size one from the cloud. We do not analyse, recognise or look at your stickers, we do not use them or their names for advertising, profiling or model training, and we show them to no one else. Image files are stored privately, and the details stored with them (name, time, place) are encrypted at rest.
Uploads use Wi-Fi by default; you can allow cellular in Settings. There is currently no setting that turns the sticker cloud off — if you do not want a sticker kept in our cloud, delete it (section 12).
6Your exploration data
The areas you've revealed, your tracks, and your statistics live in a database on your device only. We never see them. They are preserved through your normal device backups (section 14) and stay under your control. When you choose to share an image from the app, only that rendered picture leaves your device — and only via the share action you perform. Share pictures contain no map, route, address or coordinates.
7No accounts, no login
Tabimi does not ask you to register, sign in, or provide your name, email or any other contact details. You open the app and use it.
8Anonymous usage statistics — and what they can never contain
To understand which parts of Tabimi work (for example, how many people finish the first-run guide, or how many share a card), the app sends us a small, fixed set of anonymous product events — simple facts like "onboarding completed" or "a share was completed", each with a timestamp and basic app/device info (app version, iOS major version, device class, language). They are grouped under a random installation identifier that the app invents itself: it is not your name, not your Apple ID, not a hardware or advertising ID, and it resets if you reinstall the app.
These events can never contain your location, coordinates, routes, revealed areas, photos, stickers or their names, feedback text, or anything you typed — the app's code only allows the fixed event list above, and our server rejects anything else. The statistics are not linked to your identity and are not used for tracking or advertising.
You can turn usage statistics off at any time with “Help Improve Tabimi” in Settings; the app then stops sending events and discards any it has not sent yet. Beyond that: no advertising, no third-party trackers, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no cookies. Diagnostic messages are written only to your device's own system log and are not collected by us.
9Feedback you choose to send
The app has an optional feedback form. If — and only if — you tap send, we receive: your message, the app version, and your language setting; the delivery network also tells us a country code. That's all. Feedback never includes your location, your map, your stickers, or any identifier, and we use it solely to improve the app.
10Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent, or share your data for advertising, and we do not disclose it to anyone else — except to the infrastructure provider named in section 2, which processes it only on our behalf, or where the law requires it.
11Children's privacy
Tabimi does not ask anyone, including children, for a name, email or any other contact details. If you believe a child's stickers should be removed, delete them in the app or email us (section 16).
12Keeping and deleting your data
Data on your device stays there until you delete it or uninstall Tabimi.
Deleting a sticker in the app also deletes its copies from the sticker cloud, the next time the app is online.
Please delete stickers in the app before uninstalling it if you want their cloud copies removed. Uninstalling erases the app's key; after that, the cloud copies can no longer be reached from any device — including by you — or linked to you, and their full-size images are lost to you as well. Such copies stay in our storage: we do not yet delete unreachable copies on a schedule, and we will update this policy when we do. If you have already uninstalled and want them removed, email us (section 16); without the key we may be unable to find them.
The photo sent for cloud check is never kept (section 4). Anonymous statistics are kept to understand how the app is used; feedback is kept for as long as it helps us improve the app.
13Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA and China's PIPL give you rights to access, correct and delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise most of them in the app: rename or delete a sticker, turn off cloud check, and turn off usage statistics. For anything else, email us (section 16). Because we hold no name, email or account, we can act on cloud data only when we can tie it to your app's key, so some requests may need the app to still be installed.
14Apple
Apple provides the operating system, the App Store and — if you enable them — device and iCloud backups. Your device's backup may include Tabimi's local data and, in an encrypted backup, the app's key; that backup is created and encrypted by Apple and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not by us.
15Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, and we update it before the app starts handling your data in a new way. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and any material change will be shown here.
